Case Narrative

The Challenge

The primary sluice gates at the hydroelectric facility showed critical structural degradation in the lower guide rails, resulting in a 15% increase in bypass leakage. Due to seasonal surge requirements, the gates could not be dewatered. The dive team faced a strict 14-day operational window in low-visibility, high-flow conditions at a 60ft depth.

The Solution

Divecom deployed a 24/7 rapid response crew and established an on-site command post. Divers utilized 3D volumetric sonar to map the target guide rails, executed Class A wet welds under AWS D3.6M to install reinforcement forms, and applied specialized underwater-curing polymer epoxies to restore 100% seal integrity.

Phase A: Sonar Mapping High-frequency multibeam sonar mapped the damaged rails, establishing a 3D point cloud coordinate system.
Phase B: Wet Welding Divers executed AWS Class A wet welds on-site to reinforce damaged structural guide frames.
Phase C: Polymer Sealing Applied custom polymer seals to legacy forms, eliminating bypass leakage and restoring seal integrity.
